Unum by Ken Burns
A site to hold the collected works of Ken Burns, showing the links between past and present.
Challenge: Create a site to hold, and add new relevance to the documentary films of Ken Burns.
Insight: Ken famously claims “There Is No History.” That the past and the present are almost seamlessly intertwined.
Idea: A site that traces the origins of contemporary events through the historical themes found not in Ken’s individual films, but across all of them.
E pluribus unum. Out of many events, many perspectives, many individuals, and many themes—one site to bring them together. Unum builds on current events to create a magazine-style deep dive in to the common themes of America past and present.
